The 2012 Special Operations Warrior Foundation Charity Golf Tournament hosted by K2 is being held this year on 07 September at the Country Club of North Carolina. Last year, our tournament raised the second largest donation amount ever seen by the SOWF. Our goal this year is to break that record, but we can’t do it without your help! For more information on how you can become a sponsor and participant in what will surely be a record-breaking event for the SOWF, please download the 2012 flyer.

2011 Tournament Raised the second largest amount the Foundation has ever seen...
PINEHURST, N.C., October 31, 2011 -- K2 Solutions, Inc. (K2) held its 2nd Annual Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) Charity Golf Tournament at Pinehurst No. 6 on Friday, October 28, 2011. The Tournament was supported by 48 sponsors and hosted 144 players, filling the course to capacity.
The Foundation provides the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps Special Operations Forces (SOF) with full educational scholarships. “Special Operations are the ones that are prosecuting the war and because of that, they take the heaviest losses,” said Dick Davis, former Command Sgt. Major and current SOWF Board Member. This monetary support is not a loan, and covers tuition, books, fees, and room and board in full. To date, the SOWF has matriculated 195 students and currently has 920 children in its Counseling Network program. The counseling component is an added feature that SOWF offers to affected children and spouses to assist them on their path to recovery and relief.
K2 is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business located in Southern Pines, NC and provides a range of services, to include canine training, research and development, and security services. K2’s year-long planning contributed $87,878.42 after expenses, the second largest amount that the Foundation has ever seen from a charity golf tournament. Currently the average cost per student is $80,000.00 for in-state universities. K2’s long range goal is to raise $240,000.00 with this event to support three surviving children of our fallen warriors.
Andy Anderson, retired Colonel and current SOWF Board Member, shared insight on the Foundation’s successes and future plans. “In 2010,” Anderson started, “28 kids reached the age of graduating high school and—[mostly] because of their fantastic mothers that are widows and the job that they do and somewhat to the fact (we’d like to think) because of our counseling [and] that we stay connected to the families through the years—all 28 graduated from high school. And 26 of the 28 are now in college, under the auspices of our program.”
“K2 is extremely thankful for the support our sponsors, individual players, and local businesses that contributed extraordinary raffle and door prizes in support of this Foundation” said Seana Pernice-Kowalczyk, the SOWF Tournament Committee Chair. “Our K2 Team worked very hard for an entire year planning this event. I think it shows how K2 can come together and raise a historic amount of money for the SOWF.”
“This is an important effort,” said K2 CEO and President, Dave Whitmire. We will sponsor this tournament for as long as the foundation exists, and it will be important for us to find a course partner that is in it with us for the long term. We foresee this tournament getting larger each year.”
