K2’s core leadership positions are held by individuals who have served our country as career active duty members of all branches of the United States Armed Forces and have fought in all contemporary military campaigns from Grenada to Iraq and Afghanistan. They have a combined total of more than 100 years in all aspects of Special Operations.

Dave Whitmire

President / CEO

Dave Whitmire, President and CEO, has over 28 years of Special Operations, and combat arms experience leading DOD and interagency cross-functional teams in dynamic and uncertain environments.  As a successful leader, strategist, and planner, Mr. Whitmire has been a driving force in the Special Operations and US Intelligence community as both a uniformed officer in our nation’s military, and in the private sector.

A decorated combat veteran, he has served in a multitude of leadership, management, and planning capacities in Joint and Army Special Forces operational units conducting Unconventional Warfare, Counter-Terrorism, Foreign Internal Defense, Direct Action, and Special Reconnaissance missions.  A successful leader, strategist, and planner with domestic and international experience in government and non-government agencies, Mr. Whitmire has also served as a subject matter expert testing and developing emerging technology for use on the battlefield as well as serving as an advisor and primary planner for contingency plans in the areas of engineering, logistics, communications, infiltration, and intelligence system development. 

Mr. Whitmire has extensive experience working with partner-government, and commercial sector organizations to forecast, assess, and acquire critical capabilities in the “global commons” of Sea, Air, Land, and Cyber.  He holds Advanced degrees in International Studies, Planning, and Organizational Administration.

   

 

 

James Lynch

Executive Vice President / COO

Jim Lynch, Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. He interacts extensively with all employees on a daily basis and provides performance reviews, counseling, and detailed orientations of overall company operations to new employees. 

 

Mr. Lynch retired from the Army with over twenty-one years of military service spanning all levels of leadership in the Special Forces. He has extensive background in Special Operations areas including small unit strikes, foreign internal defense, unconventional warfare, counterterrorism operations, strategic reconnaissance, and operations and intelligence techniques. This experience encompassed target analysis, battlefield operations systems, and intelligence preparation of the battlefield. Mr. Lynch served as Senior Small Group Leader at the Special Forces Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Academy, where he provided leader training, developmental counseling and supervision for senior NCOs. Mr. Lynch also held a General Schedule (GS) position performing contract management functions, including quality assurance and evaluation (QAE) duties for the US Air Force.

 

Mr. Lynch has held four of the six Special Forces Military Occupational Specialties (MOS): Weapons Sergeant, Engineer Sergeant, Intelligence Sergeant and Operations Sergeant. He is a graduate of the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC), the Operations and Intelligence (O&I) Course, and the Advanced Special Operations Techniques (ASOT) Course.

   

 

 

Thomas "Rick" Landreth

Vice President - Special Operations Business Unit

Rick Landreth, Vice President of K2’s SOF Business Unit, has more than 29 years of active duty service in the US Army, including 18 years of Special Forces experience, small unit leadership, management, and training experience within the Department of the Army and other government agencies (OGAs).  He is a recognized expert in all areas of special operations, including Counterterrorism, CQB, surveillance, satellite communications, explosives, marksmanship, training and evaluation, security assessments, assessment and selection, and specialized warfare.  Mr. Landreth has provided senior leadership and supervision in all phases of SOTF Assessment and Selection programs. He has directed all aspects of an SOF Operator Training Course (OTC) to include: marksmanship, CQB, accelerated freefall and specialized entry courses which encompass all aspects of the fundamentals of special operations TTPs.  Mr. Landreth has interfaced with senior officials as well as senior military commanders on a regular basis.  Additionally, he has conducted training in urban, rural, jungle, mountain, desert, and water operations.  He has expertise in the areas of marksmanship, Assessment Selection and Training, exercises, evaluations, breaching explosives. Mr. Landreth’s active duty deployments include: Somalia, Vulcan’s, Korea, South America, Sudan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Middle East, Iraq, and Afghanistan. 

 

In this position, Mr. Landreth has managed multi-million dollar contracts in support of the following clients, among others,: the Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) assessment and selection effort; the Marine Corps’ Improvised Explosive Device Detector Dog (IDD) program; Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO), which involves recruiting, maintaining, and retaining highly-skilled and educated personnel who deploy OCONUS to provide counter-IED support to forward-deployed divisions/MEFs and their subordinate units; the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) for which we provide operational advisory assistance in support of Army and Joint Force Commanders to enhance US combat effectiveness; and Special Operations Forces Support Activity (SOFSA) for which we provide unique logistical support for Special Operations Forces.

   

 

 

Rodger Moore

Vice President - Canine Operations

Rodger Moore is the Vice President of K2’s Canine Operations.  This division provides maximum responsiveness in support of canine operational requirements.  Mr. Moore oversees all aspects of the program, working closely with individual Program and Project Managers to ensure comprehensive technical, analytical and programmatic leadership.

Mr. Moore is a retired US Army Special Forces Sergeant Major with 26 years of leadership and service.  He has exceptional experience in all areas of special operations, including counter-terrorism, surveillance, security assessment, sniper marksmanship, and small unit tactics and training.  His specialized experience includes infrastructure security, developing and executing high-risk exercises and evaluations such as integration of US Special Operations, US agencies and foreign militaries and agencies for Department of State VIP visits in foreign countries, Foreign Dignitary visits, Olympics and Multi Nation Exercises. He has broad international experience that includes supervisor of planning, coordination, and evaluation of U.S. Special Forces units covering a 98-country area of responsibility in Europe and Africa.

   

 

 

Randy Rhynes

Vice President - Logistics Business Unit

Randy Rhynes, Vice President of the Logistics Business Unit, is responsible for the planning and coordination of enterprise-wide logistics management.  He ensures the long-term performance, sustainability and profitability of the Logistics BU through the development and implementation of strategies, policies and initiatives.  Prior to standing up the Logistics BU, Mr. Rhynes functioned as the Vice President of Operations managing four directorates that included finance, contracting, facilities and administrative operations.

 

Mr. Rhynes retired from the US Army after thirty years of service.  A majority of his time was assigned to an elite special missions unit charged with counter-terrorism.  He has combat experience in Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Mogadishu, Somalia, Operation Just Cause, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, in addition to rotations to the Middle East, focusing on Overseas Contingency Operations.  Mr. Rhynes has distinguished himself throughout his career as an expert marksman, earning the President’s Hundred five times and has been awarded the Distinguished Rifleman’s Badge.  He has held all positions from team leader to Sergeant Major as an airborne infantryman, coached winning national rifle teams, and managed multi-faceted range complexes.
